Welcome
My name is Mel Keen and I'm passionate about offering complementary therapy services that are grounded in both traditional and contemporary approaches. I have over 19 years experience working with children, young people and adults across a range of areas including counselling, mental health, education and the corporate sector.
Sometimes our life experiences and circumstances might create imbalance, stress or illness. How we interpret and respond to different situations influences how we are affected by them. Sometimes we do this consciously, other times this happens automatically as our mind and body try to protect us.
We can become disconnected in different ways - from our self, others, our body and nature. Carefully re-establishing connection to, and between, these four elements is the foundation of my practice.
Self - self-awareness is freedom and allows us choice in how we respond to life.
Others - meaningful relationships and belonging have the power to heal and transform.
Body - it is vital that we understand how our brain and body react and interact on a physiological level.
Nature - reconnecting with the natural environment helps to restore balance in busy lifestyles that overstimulate our minds and bodies.
Horse Horizons recognises that horses are able to assist us in each of these four elements, in many different ways.
Horses are unique and powerful animals. What they have to offer is, quite literally, beyond words.
What they have to teach us, if we are willing to listen, is life changing.
We each have our own story. I have faith in people's capacity to make changes in their lives, no matter how big or small and regardless of age.
Sincerely,
Mel
